    Description

1954-55 WCJHL Edmonton Oil Kings Team Signed Game Used Stick
Ancient wood CCM Pattern-Made gamer with the Brown's Sporting Goods and Love & Bennett stamps (team suppliers to the Toronto Maple Leafs!). This historical game stick has been signed along one edge in bold and uniform blue ink (ok, a couple are lighter) by 20 of the 1954-55 Edmonton Oil Kings team and staff including coach Ken McAuley, Len Lunde, George Congrave, Ed Diachuk, Lionel Repka, Gordon Strate, Frank Roggeveen, Al Jacobson, Ron Tookey, Dave Joyal, Jack Nichol, Chuck Holmes and others. The stick is in decent shape with an age crack running thru the blade. The knob is taped in vintage black wrap with white over top. White tape (might be a later application) at the blade.
The Edmonton Oil Kings have a history that predates the founding of the Western Hockey League. They won the Memorial Cup in 1963 and 1966 as members of the senior men's Central Alberta Hockey League. The team was required to defeat the Alberta Junior Hockey League champion to earn the right to play for the national junior championship. They were also cup finalists seven different years between 1954 and 1971. Hall of Famers Norm Ullman and Johnny Bucyk played on the 1953-54 squad that went to the Memorial Cup finals.
