1978 Tacoma Yankees autographed baseball-18 signatures
on an Official Pacific Coast League ball by Wilson. Manager Mike Ferraro did NOT sign this ball but pitching coach Hoyt Wilhelm, a 1985 baseball Hall of Fame inductee, did sign the ball as did coach Ed Napoleon. Others include Brian Doyle, Steve Taylor, Bobby Brown, Danny Schmitz, Jim Lysgaard, Roger Slagle, Dave Rajsich, Darryl Jones, Jerry Narron, Tommy Cruz, Marv Thompson, Bob Polinsky, Garry Smith, Damaso Garcia, Dennis Werth and Roy Staiger. Ten of these players had major league careers including notables Damaso Garcia and Brian Doyle. The team took first place in the Western Division of the PCL with an 80-57 record and Tacoma and Albuquerque were declared co-champions with rain postponed the series. This was the ONLY year a Tacoma team was affiliated with the NY Yankees. Ball is unauthenticated.
