Absolutely a best-of-class and super rare sign which will be the "it" piece of any Breweriana collection!
Today we are excited to offer for sale one of the hardest-to-find pieces of breweriana/bar collectibles...a Budweiser Clydesdale Team sign from the 1960s!
This fabulous, large (over 5 feet long!) lighted sign was created in the 1960s as a Budweiser promotional item. Only select liquor stores received one, and very few survived until today. This piece is in exceptional vintage condition. The display sits in an open, bespoke oak wood display case with brass corners and red felt backing. A clear plastic bubble dome encases the world-famous Clydesdale team, eight majestic draft horses pulling a stately red beer wagon. Two men in blue uniforms drive the team, and a perky dalmatian sits beside them, keeping an eye on things. Behind them, crates upon crates of Budweiser beer are stacked, ready for delivery. Behind this scene is a white background, upon which you can see the Budweiser logo. Underneath, gold signage identifies this as the "World Champion Clydesdale Team". The sign dramatically lights up from the bottom....turn it on by tugging on the switch pull that doubles as a bottle opener!
Sign presents in very good vintage, working condition. The front plastic has minimal wear and patina commensurate with age and display. One stable (and hard to see) stable fracture is present on the lower left of the plastic bubble, however, this is not visible when viewed head-on. We never even noticed it till we started photographing it.  No other major damage has been noted, but please review all photos as you may know more about the fine details of this sign than we do.
There is evidence that parts of the sign have likely been refurbished over time as it looks so good, however we don't know for sure to what extent.  It appears that the red felt was replaced and the wood frame looks like new so it may have been re-stained?  There's no dust or dirt inside so perhaps it was opened up and cleaned?  We're only guessing.  We will never know for sure since the previous owner has passed and this is being sold by his estate, but at any rate, the signed was obviously always loved and maintained. That said, expect to find little signs of aging here and there.  It is, after all about 60 years old and incorporates many materials including paper and plastic that will eventually show their age.
This amazing sign would make a great addition to any bar, man cave or vintage advertising collection. Fresh to the market from the estate of an avid collector!
