During the 1920’s the Chevrolet range of commercial vehicles had been imported in the UK and assembled locally, In 1931 the ‘Independence Series’ arrived and was produced under the Bedford badge. The design was successful as it was fast and reliable and it became popular with all branches of the road haulage industry. The marketing slogan was ‘You see them everywhere’ and for once this seems fairly accurate. They remained in production until 1939 and in use for many years after. This model portrays a flatbed used by a coal merchant.
Pack contains parts to build lorry it comes complete with a load of open topped sacks, a man manoeuvring a sack and another lifting one onto his shoulders and a sack truck. It requires painting.
