Description
Offered for sale is a really unique antique blown glass bottle manufactured during what I believe to be the late 1800s to early 1900s. I don't know much about this one. The bottle is paneled in form with engraved designs which depict sunbursts or flowers and elongated horizontal ellipses on each panel and on the shoulder of the bottle. The bottle has a smooth polished pontil mark on the bottom and it is threaded around the finish, but it has a lid which pulls on and off. The lid is made of metal and it is painted black with a toleware style design on the very top with a mustard colored flower and beading around the rim. The bottle stands about 6 1/2" tall. If you know anything about this piece, I'd love to hear from you. I've seen early English bottles with this form and with similar engraving, but they don't have the threaded finish. The overall condition of the bottle is excellent. There are no chips, cracks, or areas of concern. The top rim of the finish has standard small chips and nicks as is typically found with these old bottles. The clarity of the glass is excellent with no cloudiness other than in the very bottom edges and corners which could use a thorough cleaning. The pattern details are very appealing and the metal lid has standard light wear to the surface with no splits and just minor surface rust in a few small locations.
